Hello, my name is Cliff Gordon and I am the founder and owner of Universal Digital Services. I have been in the fabrication, manufacturing, and design engineering industries for over 35 years. I worked my way up to the Vice-Presidency of two different companies in my career by being good at what I do. And that has been my motto my entire life, "Be the best at whatever you do."
I began my hobby of videography and computer programming in 1980 with the purchase of my first movie camera and home computer. I have been working with both mediums ever since, using them in my personal life, incorporating them into my business functions and combining them into new avenues of creativity.
I had been doing projects for family and friends for many years when I decided to pursue this on a professional level rather than as a hobby. I began researching the industry and various methods used to transfer movie film into digital formats. I was very dissatisfied with what I found based on what I had learned. Fortunately, as a design engineer, I was able to take all of the problems inherent in the transfer industry and develop new technology that would eliminate them. Most profoundly is the capability to register movie film frames accurately without using claws, teeth, or sprockets that protrude through the film, the number one cause of damage to movie film. This is because as film ages it shrinks naturally. This shrinkage prevents it from properly running through projectors without damage due to the difference in film and projector registration dimensions. Well kept film will appear to run fine, but in reality, some minor damage is being incurred with each run. And the damage is accumulative.
That has been the basis for my company UDS. We offer technology that no one else can and do a better job of preserving your precious memories and not damaging or changing your media in the process. Our patented equipment is available only to us which means no one else can provide the security from damage that we do.
We founded our company not to be just another transfer mill. We care about our customers memories and what they mean to them and their families. Just as movie film was replaced by video, and then video was replaced by digital, and now hi definition is soon to be the standard, we are here to provided services that will continue to preserve your memories and history into the future as new storage technologies are developed.
